How to Play in DPL

DPL is an invitation-based team league. You don't self-register — team captains invite players to their roster from the shared Deaf Pickleball Ratings player pool.

The path to a roster

STEP 1

Have a DPR profile

DPR (Deaf Pickleball Ratings) is the player identity layer for the entire PickleUnlimited ecosystem. Every DPL player must be in DPR first — that's how captains find you and how your league play stays separate from your DPR rating.

STEP 2

Get rated

DPR profiles are typically created when you play your first sanctioned Deaf pickleball tournament — DPB (Deaf Pickleball Brackets) is the easiest way in. Tournament play earns you a DPR rating which captains use during recruitment.

STEP 3

Wait for a captain's invite

Each DPL team has a captain — a player who manages the roster. Captains use the DPR-powered player search to find rated players and invite them to their team. There's no application or open tryout — captains build their roster strategically across the season.

STEP 4

Sign the league waiver

Once a captain adds you, you'll be redirected to sign DPL's player waiver before your first game. Standard liability waiver — typed signature, takes a minute.

Important: DPL play does NOT affect your DPR rating

League play is intentionally separated from individual rating systems. Your wins, losses, and standings in DPL never change your DPR or DUPR rating — your individual rating only reflects DPR-tracked formats (Singles, Doubles, Mixed, Skinny, Scrambler).

This is a deliberate design — competing on a team shouldn't risk your individual rating.
